"Torna" means having a physical exercise in hungarian. We mount VJs on stages, being armed with heavy visual gears to make your eyes pop out! TORNA TIME AROUND THE WORLD!

VJ Torna is world touring VJ contest which offers an inspiring and entertaining experience both for visual pros and both for the general audiences. The first competition was organised in 2004 in Budapest, Hungary with the aim of gathering and stimulating video artists from the local and from the international VJ scene.

The success of the event has been confirmed by the recent collaborations born worldwide: in the past twelve moths, VJ Torna went to Sao Paulo (Brasil), Budapest (Hungary), Minsk (Belorus) and Rome (Italy). In 2013 it is planned to land in Delhi  (India), Mexico City (Mexico), Berlin (Germany, Rome (Italy) and Cape Town (South Africa).

The jury is a sworn body of people convened to render an impartial judgement on the performance of each competitors. They are 3 to 5 industry professionals and visual aesthetics masters originating both from the host country and from other parts of the world.

Rules & Regulations

There are 3 tournament categories you can choose to enter.

The jury consists of 5 industry professionals and/or visual aesthetics masters.

Cinetrip’s muster provides and opportunity for a real international challenge where each can find their favourite competition category and form of presentation based on their skills, training and orientation. The jury includes international experts, who will hand out 2 awards in 2 categories. There will be 1 audience award for 1 category too.

Competitors are judged differently in the two live categories as described below...

The Vj Battle category is a normal elimination race. Two opponents perform simultaneusly and only one of them, the winner can survive and step further in the tournament rounds...

In Best Live Mapper, competitors are judged by a given score between 1 to 10 points for their performances. Everyone has an exact amount of time during each rounds to impress the jury and receive the highest score possible. At the end of the qualifying matches, scores will be summed up and 4 of the competitors with the highest scores will be chosen to enter the semi-final and the final rounds.

Now let’s see the categories.
